Derek Hough Admits He'd 'Never Say Never' To Being A Judge On 'DWTS

After making history as a six-time Mirror Ball champion on the beloved show Dancing with the Stars, Derek Hough has hinted that he might just say "yes" if asked to return as a judge. In a recent exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, the talented dancer revealed his thoughts on the possibility of rejoining the show. "I love the show, but we'll see," Derek shared. "We'll see what the future holds." Now, let's face it, this isn't an easy decision for the 33-year-old heartthrob, especially since he's currently judging the world's biggest dance competition, World of Dance, alongside Jennifer Lopez and Ne-Yo.

Here’s the kicker: Derek also mentioned that teaming up with his sister, former DWTS judge Julianne Hough, to judge the show together would be something he wouldn't completely rule out. "I think it would be fun!" Derek exclaimed. "Who knows, but it'd be a blast." Can you imagine the sibling duo bringing their unique perspectives and undeniable chemistry to the judging panel? Fans are already dreaming about it.

On December 12, fans of the show were left scratching their heads when ABC revealed its spring lineup, and Dancing with the Stars was notably absent. Panic set in as people wondered if this might be the end of an era. But Derek wasn't too worried about it. "You know what, I think it's important to create an appetite," he explained. "It's two seasons a year for 14 years — that's quite an accomplishment." Derek reassured fans that there's no need to hit the panic button just yet.

Derek pointed out that this isn't the first time fans have fretted over the future of DWTS. Since its debut in 2005, the show has faced speculation about its longevity numerous times. "In the past, there were many moments when people thought, 'This is it, it's over,' and then boom — the show came back stronger than ever," Derek recalled. "That's the magic of DWTS; it always finds a way to surprise us." It's clear that Derek has faith in the show's ability to adapt and thrive.

When asked if he tuned in to the last season of DWTS, Derek admitted he caught some parts but didn't watch it all. He was surprised to hear about the backlash directed at Season 27 champions, professional dancer Sharna Burgess and her partner, radio host Bobby Bones. "It's funny because he's getting flack, but there are clearly a lot of people who are like, 'Don't knock him because he won!'" Derek noted, defending Bobby's win.
