Alright, here’s a story that’s got some real behind-the-scenes drama. Late-night host Jimmy Fallon recently admitted on The Tonight Show that he tried to make a move on the gorgeous actress Kate Hudson, but let’s just say it didn’t quite go as planned. This confession came during an episode with guest star Margot Robbie on December 3, where Jimmy revealed the awkward tale from years ago.
How the Story Unfolded
While playing a game called “Loaded Questions” with Margot, Jimmy shared a pretty hilarious and slightly embarrassing moment from his past. The game involves answering personal questions written on coasters. If you don’t want to answer, you can take a shot of liquor instead. One of the questions read, “Do you have a co-star you thought you could have dated but didn’t?” Margot didn’t have an answer, but Jimmy opened up about his own experience with Kate Hudson.
The Setup
Back in 2000, when Jimmy and Kate were both working on Almost Famous, they were really good friends. Jimmy decided to invite her to see a comedy group called The Kids in the Hall. Now, here’s where the story gets interesting. That same night, The Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson happened to be at the club, and Jimmy and Kate went up to introduce themselves. The next day, they had plans to go ice skating in Central Park, but things took an unexpected turn.

Jimmy recalled how they skated around the rink a few times before he asked her what she was up to next. Her response? “I’ve got to go because I have a date with Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes.” Ouch! It was at that moment Jimmy realized he’d been friend-zoned. Can you imagine how that must’ve felt? Poor guy!
What Happened Afterward?
Well, as it turns out, Kate ended up marrying Chris that same New Year’s Eve in 2000. They welcomed their son, Ryder, in 2004. However, their marriage didn’t last forever, and they split in 2006. Later, Kate got engaged to Matt Bellamy, but that relationship also ended a few years after their child, Bingham, was born.
Despite the missed connection between Kate and Jimmy—or even Kate and Chris for that matter—both have found their true loves now. Jimmy is happily married to Nancy Juvonen, and they have two kids together. Kate is currently dating Danny Fujikawa and even welcomed her third child with him in October. Life has worked out pretty well for them, it seems.
