Kate Middleton's Path To The Throne: A Royal Journey

Kate Middleton Is 'Carefully Grooming Herself' To Be Queen, Royal

Picture this: Kate Middleton as the Queen of England. It feels like a distant reality, right? After all, Queen Elizabeth, who's still reigning at the age of 92, isn't showing any signs of stepping down. But let’s face it, time marches on, and when that day eventually arrives, Kate is reportedly gearing up for the role of a lifetime. She's not just sitting back and waiting; she's actively preparing to take on the responsibilities of the monarchy.

According to royal reporter Tina Brown in a recent interview with Us Weekly, "Kate is very carefully grooming herself for that role." And for Meghan Markle, married to Prince Harry, it's a different story. "Meghan is not the next in line to be queen," Brown pointed out. Despite the spotlight often shining on Meghan, she must tread carefully, understanding the nuances of her position. "I think Meghan, who’s smart, must be very careful and aware that, for all the glamour and excitement surrounding her, there’s a protocol to follow," Brown elaborated.

Brown went on to explain, "Meghan is going to have to realize—I mean, I think she does realize, and I think she’s handling it very well at the moment, actually—that she’s not just going to provoke catty comparisons." She emphasized the gravity of Meghan's situation by saying, "I can’t even imagine what it must be like going into a world like that not knowing what to expect." Every move Meghan makes in this royal world has to be meticulously planned. There's no room for error when you're part of the British monarchy.

Brown also pointed out during the interview that Meghan will likely encounter some of the same challenges that her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, faced. "I think she’s doing an amazing job, but I think, funny enough, she’s going to face many of the problems that Diana faced or is facing," Brown shared. The comparison is both intriguing and cautionary, reminding us of the complexities of being a beloved public figure within the royal family.

Brown, a former editor of Vanity Fair, expanded on this, saying, "When Diana first married [Prince] Charles, and all the way through, really, the palace had this phrase they would use about it, which was ‘The Upstage Problem.’ Right? And that Upstage Problem was about the fact that nobody wanted to hear anything about Charles; everybody wanted to hear from Diana." She noted a shift with Harry and Meghan, stating, "Now, it’s somewhat different because Prince Harry has a lot of charisma himself so people do love Harry, but the rest of the royals are beginning to get, I think, a little over it in terms of the obsession with Meghan and Harry and Meghan and Meghan and Meghan."

With Kate's methodical preparation to step into the queen's shoes, it seems there's little chance Meghan could overshadow her, regardless of her immense popularity.
