Keith Richards Calls It Quits On The Bottle: A New Chapter For The Rock Legend

Keith Richards Admits He's Done With Drinking: 'It Was Time To Quit'

Let me tell you a story about a man who’s seen it all—Keith Richards. At 74 years old, and as one of the founding members of the legendary band The Rolling Stones, Keith has lived a life most of us can only dream of. We’ve all heard the tales, the wild nights, the parties that seemed to never end. But guess what? Keith’s done with all that. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, he revealed that he’s stopped drinking altogether. Can you believe it? The man who once partied like there was no tomorrow has decided to call it quits.

Keith Richards: Saying Goodbye to the Booze

During the interview, Keith opened up about his decision to put an end to his drinking days. “It’s been about a year now,” he said. “I pulled the plug on it. I got fed up with it. It was time to quit. Just like all other stuff.” Keith’s take on his new lifestyle is refreshingly honest. “I don’t notice any difference really—except for I don’t drink,” he explained. “I wasn’t feeling [right]. I’ve done it. I didn’t want that anymore.” Now, before you think Keith’s turned into a teetotaler, let me clarify—he still enjoys a glass of wine occasionally or a beer now and then. But gone are the days of excessive indulgence. This new Keith is focused on living a healthier, more balanced life.

A New Keith: What His Bandmates Think

Ronnie Wood, one of Keith’s fellow Stones, has already noticed a change in his longtime friend. “He’s a pleasure to work with,” Ronnie shared. “Much more mellow. He’s open to more ideas, whereas before I’d kind of grit my teeth and go, ‘He’s gonna give me some s–t for saying this.’ Now, he’ll say, ‘That’s cool, man.’” Ronnie also shed light on Keith’s decision to stop drinking. “It just wasn’t working anymore, you know,” he said. “The Keith that we used to know and love had this cut-off point where if he had one more, he’d go over the top and he’d be nasty. The cutoff point became shorter and shorter, and he realized that.” It’s clear that Keith’s new approach to life is not only benefiting him but also strengthening the band’s dynamics.
