There’s no denying the Cambridges have a flair for the arts! It seems Princess Charlotte has picked up a passion for dance, following in her older brother Prince George’s footsteps. According to People, the three-year-old royal has started attending ballet lessons at a prestigious dance school in South London. If you ask me, this news couldn’t come as more of a delightful surprise to fans of the royal family.
Brother and Sister Ballet Buddies
Kate Middleton and Prince William’s darling daughter reportedly began these weekly dance sessions several months ago. Now, her big brother George, who is five years old, can officially call her his dance partner. You see, ballet is part of George’s curriculum at Thomas’s Battersea school in London. Imagine the two of them practicing pirouettes and pliés together—it’s absolutely heartwarming!

Where Does This Love for Dance Come From?
Charlotte’s enthusiasm for dance doesn’t exactly come out of nowhere. Her dad, Prince William, has often spoken about how much his little princess loves to twirl around. Back in March, during a Commonwealth reception, the Duke of Cambridge shared with guests, “My daughter Charlotte loves dancing.” And it’s not just Charlotte; William also mentioned that George is into dance too. At a Kensington Palace reception for inspiring teens in October, he said, “George is doing dancing as well, and he absolutely loves it.”

Could this royal flair for dance have been passed down from their late grandmother, Princess Diana? Reports suggest that Diana was quite the fan of the Royal Opera House and even surprised her then-husband, Prince Charles, by performing a secret dance duet with ballet star Wayne Sleep. They danced to Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl,” and if that doesn’t scream fun, I don’t know what does!
Following in the Footsteps of Princess Diana
“My mother always used to dance; she loved it,” Prince William said at a Kensington Palace event on October 19. He encouraged a dancer and anti-bullying campaigner by saying, “If it’s something you love, you do what you love. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Keep at it.” It’s clear that the tradition of dance runs deep in this family, and it’s wonderful to see the next generation embracing it.
