Queen Elizabeth's Christmas Speech: A Glimpse Into Her Heart And Home

Royal Christmas message: What is it and when does King Charles do it

Hey there, friends! Let me take you back to a moment of pure nostalgia. Every year, Queen Elizabeth delivers her Christmas speech, and while we all love hearing her warm words, this time around, something in the background caught everyone's attention. It was an old black-and-white photo of herself, Prince Philip, and Prince Charles, a true throwback to a simpler time.

Now, this photo isn’t just any snapshot—it’s from a Buckingham Palace photo session that happened way back in April 1949. Can you believe little Prince Charles was only six months old at the time? In the photo, Queen Elizabeth, then 23, beams with happiness, while Prince Philip, looking as dapper as ever, gazes stoically at the camera. It’s a reminder of how much history is woven into these royal moments.

While the background featured festive Christmas decorations and a stunning golden piano, it was Queen Elizabeth’s heartfelt words that truly resonated with her audience. She spoke about the constants in her life that have provided comfort and reassurance over the years.

  • “Through the many changes I have seen over the years, faith, family, and friendship have been not only a constant for me but a source of personal comfort and reassurance,” she shared. “Even with the most deeply held differences, treating the other person with respect and as a fellow human being is always a good first step towards greater understanding.”

She went on to remind everyone of the timeless message of peace. “I believe his message of peace on earth and goodwill to all is never out of date. It can be heeded by everyone; it’s needed as much as ever,” she said with sincerity.

    Shout-Out to the Next Generation

Queen Elizabeth didn’t forget to mention the exciting developments in her family. “It’s been a busy year for my family, with two weddings and two babies, and another child expected soon. It helps to keep a grandmother well occupied,” she said with a smile.

A Royal Tradition, But Not for Everyone

Interestingly, while we all eagerly anticipate her annual Christmas speech, the Queen herself isn’t the biggest fan of watching it. Former royal butler Paul Burrell revealed to the Daily Mail that while the speech is broadcast at 3 p.m., the Queen prefers to take a quiet walk rather than watch herself on TV.

“The Queen’s Speech will be played at 3 p.m., [the royals] go through the saloon drawing room and switch the TV on, people will be expected to be there,” Burrell explained. “But the one person missing will be Her Majesty, who will slip through the north end door and go for a walk, as she doesn’t like to watch herself.”

And when she returns, her family often congratulates her, saying, “Oh, you were very good this year Granny. Well done.” It’s these little moments that make the royal family feel so relatable.
