Thomas Markle Speaks Out Again: A Father's Hope for Reconciliation
It’s another day, and once again, we’re hearing from Thomas Markle, Meghan Markle’s estranged father. This time, he sat down with Good Morning Britain to open up about his thoughts on becoming a grandfather to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first royal baby, expected to arrive this spring. But it’s not just about the baby—it’s about reconciliation and family bonds.
Thomas expressed his excitement about the impending arrival of his grandchild, saying, “I’m certainly hoping everything goes well and they produce a beautiful baby. I’m certainly hoping I’ll get to see a little Meghan or a little Harry. That would be very nice.” He added, “I look forward to that happening. I’m hopeful. I think it should happen. I think she’ll make a great mom, and maybe things will soften a little bit and we’ll connect again.”
Thomas didn’t shy away from expressing his desire to be part of his daughter’s life, especially now that she’s about to become a mom herself. He said, “There has to be a place for me. I’m her father, and I will be the grandfather to her children. All I can say is that I’m here. She knows it. I’ve reached out to her—and I need her to reach back to me. I love her very much.”

A Father's Pain: Seven Months of Silence
The relationship between Meghan and her father has been strained since May, when Thomas famously bailed on attending her wedding and walking her down the aisle. Over the past seven months, he’s made numerous attempts to reconnect with his daughter, but so far, they’ve all fallen flat.
Using the opportunity of the December 17 interview, Thomas once again tried to get Meghan’s attention. He said, “I love you very much. You’re my daughter, and I’d really like to hear from you. Whatever differences we have, we should be able to work them out. We’re family. So, please reach out to me.”
Thomas went on to share his hopes for reconciliation, saying, “I’m hopeful that soon something will be resolved and we’ll be talking. This can’t continue forever. People are telling me I should stay quiet, that if I don’t speak, they’ll reach out. But that hasn’t happened yet. I don’t plan to be silent for the rest of my life. I love my daughter very much. She has to know that. And I would really appreciate it if she would just call me, reach out somehow, even send me a text, just let me know she’s there…”
