In an exclusive sit-down with Closer Weekly, Kelly Rowland dished about her journey to have another baby, the challenges of mom-shaming, her love for her post-baby body, and her exciting new partnership with Clorox and DonorsChoose.org to help provide kids with better school experiences.
Back in 2014, Kelly Rowland began a new chapter in her life. She married Tim Witherspoon, and later that year, they welcomed their son, Titan, into the world. Speaking candidly to Closer, Kelly admitted that motherhood has transformed her life in ways she never imagined. Now, she’s eagerly looking forward to expanding her family with Tim in the future.

“I absolutely want Titan to have a sibling, and he’s been asking me nonstop for a baby brother. I don’t know what God has in store for us next. What if I end up having twins? That thought alone gives me hives. I’m not ready for that kind of chaos yet,” Kelly revealed with a laugh.
Embracing Her Post-Baby Body
Despite the changes her body has undergone since becoming a mom, Kelly Rowland has learned to love and appreciate her post-baby self. When someone recently shared an old photo of her from a 2013 Shape magazine shoot on Twitter, she initially felt a pang of self-consciousness about her stretch marks and stomach. But then, she quickly reminded herself of the incredible blessings in her life.
“For a second, I felt a little sad, but then I thought, ‘Wait a minute—I have Titan.’ That’s worth more than anything. He’s such an amazing little guy, and he makes me feel so beautiful. My husband does too. They both make me feel so loved that all those insecurities just fade away,” Kelly shared with a warm smile.

Fighting Back Against Mom-Shaming
While motherhood has been a beautiful journey for Kelly, one part she could definitely live without is the mom-shaming that comes with the territory. She recounted a story about a fan who criticized her for not securing Titan’s seatbelt correctly.
“I was like, ‘Oh, thank you to the best mom in the whole world!’ I had to fire back because I was so disappointed that this person felt the need to criticize me so harshly,” Kelly explained. “Instead of tearing me down, they could’ve said something encouraging. It’s frustrating when people don’t realize the impact their words can have.”

Kelly added, “I think the moms who criticize others are often the ones who are hardest on themselves. They project their insecurities onto others without even realizing it. It’s unfortunate because they’re doing a disservice to another mom without even knowing it.”
