Let's talk about Gwyneth Paltrow, shall we? While she hasn’t officially hung up her acting hat just yet, the 45-year-old Hollywood star has been pretty candid lately about how the entertainment industry has started to feel more and more frustrating to her. Instead of chasing roles, she’s decided to shift her focus to something she truly loves—her wildly successful beauty and lifestyle brand, Goop. In a recent chat with The New York Times, Gwyneth opened up about the change in her career trajectory.
Why Gwyneth Paltrow is Saying Goodbye to Acting
Back in the day, Gwyneth absolutely adored acting. It was her passion, her craft, and her life. But as time went on, she began to feel like she wasn’t in the driver's seat anymore. “At a certain point, it started to feel frustrating—not having true agency, you know? Like, being at the mercy of others to give you a job or create something that you can put out into the world,” she shared in the interview. For someone as accomplished and driven as Gwyneth, that lack of control must have been a real challenge.Read also:Royce Renee Woods The Rise Of A Social Media Sensation
Gwyneth’s New Love: Running Goop
Fast forward to earlier this year, and Gwyneth was all about her business. “I don’t do a lot of acting these days because I have to be in the office every day with Goop,” she explained at the Sun Valley Film Festival Vision Award in Idaho. She went on to say that when she does take on acting gigs, she looks for projects that offer the best return on investment in terms of time and impact. In other words, she wants to make sure the roles she chooses are worth her while.Help us support the @donorschoose organization with @frederiqueconstant <3 $50 is donated for every watch sold from the #ManufactureStars collection on frederiqueconstant.com #donorschoose #frederiqueconstant
Her Thoughts on ‘The Avengers’ and Other Projects
Even though she’s scaling back on her acting career, Gwyneth still enjoys the occasional role. Take, for example, her part in The Avengers. “It’s fun to do something like that. I get to go to Atlanta for two days, catch up with my pals, do a scene with Robert [Downey Jr.], and then head back home,” she said. She also mentioned that she looks for projects that will be enjoyable or educational. “It’s like putting together a puzzle,” she added. “I look for things that will be fun or that I’ll learn from.”Back in June 2017, Gwyneth hinted that her acting career might be slowing down. “I’m not entirely sure how I feel about acting moving forward. I’m just doing a little here and there when I have the time, but I absolutely adore running my business,” she revealed. “My life has definitely shifted more towards my business, and it has to be that way right now because we’re growing so rapidly. It’s such an exciting time to be doing what I’m doing.”
On top of her thriving company, Gwyneth also has another major life event on the horizon—her wedding! She announced her engagement to Brad Falchuk back in January and has been busy planning the big day. “It’s fun to talk about with my girlfriends,” she told People Style. “They send me pictures of dresses, and they’re just as excited about it as I am. It’s really cute.” We can’t wait to see what’s next for Gwyneth!
