Even the polished Duchess of Sussex isn’t immune to a little fashion hiccup now and then. When Meghan Markle arrived in Dublin, Ireland, alongside her husband, Prince Harry, on Tuesday, July 10, her striking Emerald green outfit seemed flawless. But eagle-eyed royal watchers quickly spotted a small, yet amusing fashion mistake during her visit.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, Meghan—or more likely, her royal stylist—forgot to remove the protective plastic coverings from the studs at the bottom of her brand-new, cognac-colored Strathberry tote bag. It’s a minor detail, but one that caught the attention of fashion enthusiasts around the world.
A Stylish Error

Now, this little mishap might seem trivial, but it’s a reminder that even the most polished royals, like Meghan and her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, aren’t immune to the occasional wardrobe glitch. After all, they’re human too, right? And let’s not forget, even with top-notch stylists on hand, these things can happen.
A Favorite Bag with a Minor Mishap
The tan bridle leather Strathberry bag Meghan carried during her visit to Ireland is clearly a favorite of hers. In fact, this wasn’t the first time she’s used the $720 tote during a royal engagement. Back in December 2017, five months before her wedding to Prince Harry, Meghan carried a tri-color version of the Strathberry tote—navy, burgundy, and vanilla—for a visit to a World AIDS Day charity fair in Nottingham, England.
Not the First Fashion Faux Pas
Interestingly, the plastic left on Meghan’s tote in Ireland isn’t the first minor fashion error the Duchess has experienced since joining the royal family. Back in March, a Daily Mail writer pointed out that Meghan had forgotten to snip the criss-cross stitching visible on the back of her navy wool J. Crew coat during an outing in Birmingham, England. This stitching, known as a "tailor's tack," is typically included on the coat's back vent to keep the fabric together while the garment is on display. It’s supposed to be removed before the coat is worn.
So, whether it’s a forgotten stitch or a bit of lingering plastic, these minor fashion blunders remind us that even the most glamorous royals aren’t immune to the occasional wardrobe hiccup.
