Well, folks, here's something you might find surprising. In a recent interview, one of Prince Charles’ old pals from his Eton College days decided to weigh in on Meghan Markle and her family. And let me tell you, Nicky Haslam didn’t exactly hold back. His comments have set off quite the stir in royal circles.
Haslam Opens Up About Meghan and Her Family
When the Daily Mail posed the question about what Haslam thought of Meghan’s family, his response was nothing short of candid. "The Markles are frightfully common," he quipped. Now, that’s a pretty bold statement. He went on to suggest that the royal family might be struggling with how to handle them. "The royals probably don’t quite know how to deal with them," he added. Quite the observation, don’t you think?
Thomas Markle’s Royal Wedding Snub
Haslam also had something to say about Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle. When Thomas decided at the last minute not to attend his daughter’s royal wedding, Haslam had an interesting take on it. "It would have been awful if that huge lump had been there," he said. Now, that’s a rather colorful way of putting it. It sounds like Haslam thinks skipping the wedding might have been a blessing in disguise.

Meghan’s Mother: A Different Story
Interestingly, Haslam made a point to single out Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland. "One person who wasn’t common was her mother," he remarked. So, while he wasn’t thrilled with the rest of the family, he seemed to have a different opinion about Doria.
And what about Meghan’s wedding gown? Haslam had an opinion on that too. "I didn’t very much like her dress. It didn’t fit, among other things. It should have been made of thinner stuff, it seemed to be made of concrete," he shared. Now, that’s a pretty strong critique of a dress that many people thought was stunning. Fashion is subjective, right?
Kate Middleton Feels Left Out
But Haslam isn’t the only one with strong feelings about Meghan. According to In Touch Weekly, Kate Middleton, Meghan’s sister-in-law, is reportedly feeling a bit left out since Meghan joined the royal family. Kate spent years building her image as "the perfect royal," and Meghan’s arrival seems to have shaken things up. "They’re barely on speaking terms. The popularity contest has caused a lot of friction at the palace," a royal source revealed. It sounds like the palace might be feeling a bit like a high school cafeteria these days.
