Prince Louis Stepping into Aunt Meghan’s Shoes

Hey there, royal enthusiasts! It looks like Prince Louis might just be channeling his Aunt Meghan Markle in a truly special way. If you remember, Meghan's baptism happened just three months before her big day with Prince Harry. Now, fast forward to July 9, and little Louis is set to have his christening in the very same place where Meghan was baptized. Isn’t that something? Let’s dive deeper into this fascinating connection.

A Royal Venue Fit for a Prince

The christening service for Prince Louis will take place at The Chapel Royal within the majestic St. James’s Palace in London. This historic venue holds a special place in the heart of the royal family. The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, who baptized Meghan, will now also officiate the christening of the two-month-old prince. Welby has been a key figure in the royal family’s religious milestones, having officiated at Meghan and Harry’s wedding, as well as the christenings of Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Interestingly, while Meghan, George, and soon Louis were baptized at The Chapel Royal, Princess Charlotte had her christening at Sandringham’s St. Mary Magdalene church in Norfolk. This is the very same church where the late Princess Diana was baptized. It’s a beautiful nod to royal tradition and history, don’t you think?

Unlike Meghan’s baptism, Prince Louis’s christening won’t be a private affair. Back in March, Meghan was baptized into the Church of England in a highly confidential ceremony. Only Prince Harry and her in-laws, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, were by her side. Shortly after, Meghan was confirmed, following in the footsteps of Kate Middleton, who also had a private confirmation ceremony before her wedding to Prince William in 2011.

But lucky for us, we’ll get an inside look at Louis’s christening. On June 20, Kensington Palace shared the exciting news with a statement that read: “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to announce that the christening of Prince Louis will take place on Monday, July 9, at The Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace, London.” The statement continued, “Prince Louis will be christened by The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.” Can’t wait to see little Louis all dressed up in his adorable christening outfit, making his return to the spotlight!
