Prince William's Isle of Man TT Motorcycle Races Visit
They say "boys will be boys," and apparently, that includes the future King of England! On June 6, Prince William made his way to the Isle of Man for the annual TT Motorcycle Races. It was an exciting day filled with meeting support staff, volunteers, and members of the local community. During his visit, William couldn't resist sitting on a handcrafted Norton SG7 motorcycle, although thankfully it wasn’t moving—otherwise, his wife, Kate Middleton, might have had a thing or two to say about it!
While chatting with Laurence Skelly, the Isle of Man government’s minister for enterprise, William revealed that Kate wasn’t exactly thrilled about his trip. Considering the course stretches a daunting 38 miles and is notorious for its difficulty and danger—with two fatalities already recorded during the event—it’s no surprise she raised an eyebrow. William shared, “When I said I was going to the Isle of Man for an official visit, she said, ‘Really?’” Kate's skepticism is understandable, and it’s clear she has her husband’s safety in mind.

A Lifelong Love for Motorcycles
Prince William has always had a passion for motorcycles. He aced his motorcycle driving test on the first try at the tender age of 19 and even owns a bike valued at around $20,000. However, fatherhood has changed his approach to adventure. As a proud father of three, William admits he needs to slow down. “I’m a father-of-three, I have to tone it down,” he confessed. The transition hasn’t been easy for him. “I miss the big trips, for me biking was always about being with everybody else,” he added, highlighting the camaraderie he once cherished.
Triple World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea shared his experience chatting with William about motorcycles during his MBE ceremony in November 2017. “I know he’s a bit of a motorcycle fan himself,” Rea said. “We talked about his bikes and the fact that he has put it on the back-burner a little bit because of his children now.” It’s clear that William’s responsibilities as a father have influenced his lifestyle choices, but his love for motorcycles remains strong.
