Queen Elizabeth Takes A Break: Recovering And Handing Over Duties

Queen Elizabeth Is Sick, Cancels Special Church Service

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery, Queen Elizabeth. The beloved British monarch had to cancel a special church service she was supposed to attend on Thursday, June 28, because she wasn't feeling well, according to Buckingham Palace. The palace issued a statement explaining the situation, showing how even the most dedicated leaders sometimes need a breather.

“Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, is feeling a bit under the weather today and has decided it’s best not to attend this morning’s service at St Paul’s Cathedral," said a palace spokesperson. "This service was meant to mark the 200th anniversary of the Order of St Michael and St George. However, Her Majesty will still be represented by her cousin, The Duke of Kent, who will act as the Grand Master of the Order.”

Even the Queen needs a little downtime!

Elizabeth: The Queen Who Keeps Going

Unlike Prince Philip, who officially retired last year, Elizabeth remains a powerhouse in the royal world. Throughout the year, she's involved in numerous royal engagements, from parties and public appearances to diplomatic trips and award ceremonies. She's also the patron of over 600 organizations, proving just how much she's committed to her role.

However, insiders have revealed to Closer Weekly that the Queen might soon step down from her duties to spend more time relaxing with her husband and pass the torch to her eldest son, Prince Charles. “She has a strong sense of duty and originally planned to serve until the end,” a senior courtier explained to Closer. “But she’s broken all the records and has nothing left to prove.” First and foremost, though, we’re rooting for the Queen to get better in time for her great-grandson Prince Louis’ christening on July 9!
