It turns out Roseanne Barr didn’t go down without a fight after her infamous tweet. In a now-deleted post, the actress revealed that she begged ABC not to cancel the hit sitcom 'Roseanne' following her controversial social media post. This situation has sparked a lot of conversation and has many fans wondering about the future of this beloved show.

Roseanne Barr, in her heartfelt plea, shared, “I begged Ben Sherwood at ABC to let me apologize and make amends. I pleaded with them not to cancel the show. I told them I was willing to do absolutely anything and even asked for their help in making things right. I had been working tirelessly, doing publicity for them for free for weeks, traveling even while battling bronchitis. I begged for the jobs of the people involved in the show.”

In the days following the cancellation, Roseanne expressed her deep regret over the impact it had on her co-stars. "I just wish ABC hadn’t pulled the plug on two of the greatest actors in the world—Laurie Metcalf and John Goodman—along with me,” the 65-year-old wrote. “This situation is absolutely gut-wrenching for me. They’ll never find better character actors for their network." The actress clearly felt the weight of the decision and the toll it took on those around her.

  • On Tuesday, May 29, 'Roseanne' was abruptly canceled after Roseanne tweeted a racially charged message comparing one of Barack Obama’s former top aides, Valerie Jarrett, to the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Planet of the Apes. ABC Chief Channing Dungey quickly followed up with a statement confirming the show's removal from the network. "Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant, and completely inconsistent with our values, and we have made the decision to cancel her show," Dungey said in response to the incident.

Almost immediately after the cancellation, Roseanne took to Twitter to apologize to her fans and attributed her actions to the sleep drug Ambien. “Don’t feel sorry for me, guys!! I just want to apologize to the hundreds of people, and the wonderful writers (all liberal) and talented actors who lost their jobs on my show due to my stupid tweet,” she wrote. “Guys, I made a mistake so monumental that it cannot be defended. It was 2 in the morning, and I was Ambien tweeting—it was Memorial Day too. I went too far, and I don’t want anyone to defend me. It was egregious and indefensible. I wish I hadn’t done it, but please, do not defend it.”

Since the show's cancellation, many of the cast members have spoken out, expressing their disappointment and frustration. Meanwhile, some fans are brainstorming ideas for 'Roseanne' spin-offs without Roseanne herself. Do you think another network might pick up the show and give it a second chance?
