When Serena Williams steps onto the court, she commands attention. But off the court, she's found a new doubles partner who isn’t exactly smashing serves: her 10-month-old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. “We’re not spending a day apart until she’s 18,” Serena joked, showcasing the deep bond she shares with her little one. The tennis legend and her older sister, Venus Williams, have long dominated the sport. Now, Serena is finding a new rhythm balancing her career and her role as a mom.
For Serena, 36, becoming a mother has been a whirlwind of emotions. It’s been an incredible journey filled with love and joy, but it’s also been humbling. “No one talks about the low moments—the pressure you feel, the incredible letdown every time you hear the baby cry,” she’s admitted openly. Serena, who’s widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time, has faced these challenges head-on. She’s been candid about her struggles with postpartum depression, showing incredible courage and vulnerability in the process.

Support from Her Husband, Alexis Ohanian
Through it all, Serena hasn’t faced these challenges alone. Her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, 35, has been her rock. In February, he even put up four billboards near Palm Springs, California, calling her the “Greatest Momma of All Time” to support her return to the court after giving birth. “I’m so proud of [her],” he beamed. It’s this kind of unwavering support that keeps Serena motivated and inspired.
At the time, Serena had her eyes set on Wimbledon, aiming for her 24th Grand Slam title. “I absolutely want more [Slams],” she insisted. But make no mistake—her top priority remains her daughter, Alexis. “It’s definitely family before tennis for me. I haven’t gone a day without seeing her,” she said with a smile.

More Than Tennis: Serena’s Ventures Beyond the Court
Even with a packed schedule, Serena finds time to oversee her new athleisure clothing line, launched in May. It’s a testament to her creativity and passion for fashion. Beyond fashion, she’s also deeply involved in several philanthropic endeavors, focusing on education and helping victims of violence and trauma. These causes are close to her heart, and she approaches them with the same determination she brings to the tennis court.
Her drive has always been her greatest asset. “Even if my goals are outrageous, totally insane, I’d rather reach for the sky,” she said, hoping to inspire her daughter. “I’m so glad I had a daughter [and] I want to teach her that there are no limits.” Serena’s message is clear: the sky’s the limit, and she’s setting an example for her little one to follow.
