Let me tell you a story about Tyra Banks. You know her, right? The legendary supermodel turned business mogul who hosts not one but two popular shows, America's Next Top Model and America's Got Talent. At 44, she's not just a powerhouse in the entertainment industry, she's also a dedicated mom to her son, York Banks Asla. And Tyra, being the incredible person she is, has some strong thoughts about teaching her little one the value of hard work.
Recently, Tyra opened up to In Touch about how important it is for her two-year-old son to understand the sacrifices she makes so they can live a good life. "He needs to understand the reason we have a beautiful house is that Mommy kicks ass at work," she said. "I don't want him to think, 'Oh, she's in the entertainment industry and all this stuff just comes with that.'"

Tyra's Journey: Lessons from Her Childhood
Growing up in a one-parent household, Tyra learned a lot from watching her mom, Carolyn London. Her mom worked tirelessly, often holding down two jobs just to provide for their family and support Tyra's budding career. "I always understood the value of hard work," Tyra recalls about her childhood. Now, after welcoming her first child back in January 2017 following multiple failed IVF attempts with her then-partner Erik Asla, Tyra is determined to pass those same lessons on to her son.
Tyra lets York see her in meetings, giving him a front-row seat to her professional life. "I want him to know he's going to go to a good school and have nice things because I'm working overtime," she explains. Of course, leaving for work isn't always easy. "When I have to leave for work, he'll see me going to the car and start crying and say, 'Mommy, I want you to be here.' That's very difficult," she admits. But Tyra knows she's doing the right thing for York's future.
Co-Sleeping Controversy: Tyra's Perspective
Despite the challenges of balancing work and motherhood, Tyra makes sure to spend as much quality time as possible with York when she's home. One of her favorite ways to bond with her son is through co-sleeping. "Co-sleeping. I love it. It's controversial and moms attack each other over it, but I love having that time with him," she confesses. It's clear that Tyra values these moments with her son, even if it means facing some criticism from others.

Tyra's Love Life: Still Open to Finding Love
Since calling it quits with Erik in 2017, Tyra has kept her love life pretty quiet. But she hasn't given up on finding love. In fact, she playfully hints at her openness to new relationships when talking to In Touch. "If I say I'm co-sleeping with my son, that should give you a hint!" she jokes. It seems Tyra is focused on her career and her family right now, but she's still keeping an open heart for love.
