Alright, let's talk about Prince Louis, the adorable littlest member of the Cambridge family. Since his grand public debut on the steps of the Lindo Wing back on April 23, we haven’t had much of a chance to see him around. I mean, can you blame them? The guy’s just two months old! But now, we’ve got some exciting news: Prince William and Kate Middleton have officially announced that their third child will be christened on Monday, July 9. The ceremony is set to take place at the historic St James’s Palace in London.
What to Expect at Prince Louis' Christening
Now, if you’re familiar with royal traditions, you’ll know that there’s always a lot of fanfare surrounding these events. For Prince Louis, it’s no different. We already know what he’ll be wearing for this special occasion: the iconic Honiton lace christening gown. This stunning piece has been passed down through generations and was also worn by his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. But here’s the thing—while we’re all set on the outfit, the palace hasn’t yet dropped any hints about who the godparents will be. So, who might they choose?
Royal Traditions and Choosing Godparents
Let’s dive into the royal tradition of selecting godparents. Typically, royal children have a mix of relatives and close family friends serving in this role. Take Princess Charlotte, for example—she has five godparents, including William’s cousin Laura Fellowes, Kate’s cousin Adam Middleton, and some family friends like Sophie Carter, James Meade, and Thomas van Straubenzee. Prince George, on the other hand, has an impressive seven godparents. Names like Oliver Baker, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, and Zara Tindall are among those honored with the title.

So, with all that in mind, it’s natural to wonder: Could Prince Harry and Meghan Markle be named as two of Prince Louis’ godparents? While it’s a fun idea, the odds are probably not in their favor. After all, Harry wasn’t chosen as a godfather for either George or Charlotte, even though he’s already a proud uncle. And according to bookmakers, the likelihood of either the Duke or Duchess of Sussex taking on this role is pretty slim.

Who Could Be Prince Louis' Godparents?
According to Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes, William and Kate tend to lean toward close and trusted friends and aides when choosing godparents, rather than immediate family members. If past patterns hold true, we might see someone like Tiggy Pettifer, the boys' former nanny, take on the role. She’s currently at the top of the list with odds of 2/1. Another strong contender is Miguel Head, the Duke’s outgoing private secretary, who’s listed at 5/4.
Other names being tossed around include Laura Lopes, William’s stepsister and daughter of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, with odds at 3/1. Then there’s Rebecca Priestley, Kate’s former private secretary, at 4/1, and David Jardine-Patterson and Huge van Cutsem, both at 5/1. As for Meghan, her odds are significantly lower, sitting at 14/1. However, it’s almost certain that both Meghan and Harry will attend the ceremony, just as they did for George and Charlotte.
