Hey there, friends! This news might hit you like a ton of bricks, just like it did for me. HGTV's beloved stars, Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines, have officially announced that their hit show, Fixer Upper, will come to an end after its upcoming fifth season. In a heartfelt post on their blog back on September 26, the couple shared their feelings: "It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that Season 5 of Fixer Upper will be our last." They admitted it wasn't an easy decision, but it feels like the right one for them. They've grown alongside their audience, and they're deeply grateful for the support they've received from fans who've cheered them on from the other side of the screen. Saying goodbye to what introduced them to us all is truly bittersweet.
But hold on, this isn't the end of their journey. Chip, 42, and Jo, 39, reassured their fans: "This has been an incredible adventure! We've poured our hearts and souls into this show. Although our Fixer Upper chapter is coming to a close, we aren’t done with our hometown, Waxahachie, TX. We aren’t done renovating homes. We aren’t done designing things to make your home your favorite place on earth. We aren’t done working towards restoration in all things or helping out those who could use a hand. In fact, in all of these things, we are just getting started."

They expressed their gratitude: "We will forever be thankful for HGTV and this opportunity of a lifetime… Thank you for caring about these homes and these families and the things that we care so much about… Who knows what the future holds, but we’re excited for whatever is around the bend and in the meantime, we will definitely be staying in touch.”
The announcement of Fixer Upper's end came after months of speculation that Joanna might leave the show to focus on other ventures. Earlier this year, the mom-of-four addressed the rumors on the Magnolia Market blog. "So many things are happening right now, and it feels like we're moving at the speed of light... At this point in our career, we can honestly say, we've heard it all—from reports of us moving our family to Vegas to having more or fewer children than we actually have. So remember, you can’t believe everything you read,” she wrote.

“Just in case you were wondering, [yes], we are currently filming Season 5 of the show. No, I am not getting into the business of facial creams. And [no], we are not expecting baby No. 5. And no worries, believing some of these stories happens to the best of us,” Jo added. Since Fixer Upper first premiered on HGTV in May 2013, Chip and Joanna have built a thriving home improvement empire that includes their Magnolia Market, a lifestyle magazine, a real estate company, paint, rug, wallpaper, and furniture lines, a restaurant, a luxury vacation rental, and several books. But why are they stepping away from their reality TV career? Let's dive into it.

They're Launching a Lifestyle Collection with Target
The couple recently announced an exciting partnership with Target to create a lifestyle line set to hit stores in November. Joanna explained their vision: "At the core of the Magnolia brand is the desire to make homes beautiful, but with a focus on family and practicality. We want to create spaces that families want to gather in. We’ve always dreamed of working with a retailer to create a collection that could reach more people at a more affordable price point. Coming together with Target not only allows us to design beautiful pieces for people all over the country, but it also allows us to help communities in a bigger way than we could have ever imagined.”

They're Releasing a Cookbook
Joanna took to Instagram on September 22 to share some exciting news with her fans. "After a week-long photoshoot for our cookbook, celebrating with some homemade mac n' cheese and brownie pie just feels right," she wrote. The cookbook, titled Magnolia Table Cookbook, will allow fans to recreate the same delicious recipes Chip and Joanna make at home.
They Want to Spend More Time with Their Family
Joanna has mentioned how quickly their beautiful children are growing up. "So I think [it's] the idea that we kind of need to step back and just get a fresh vision. We need to get some rest, but also just hunker down with our kiddos," she said. "It’s something that we’re excited about, but also sad that this chapter of our lives is coming to an end."

They’re Probably Tired of Rumors About Their Marriage
Due to their sudden fame, Chip and Jo, who have been married since 2003, have also been targets of frequent divorce rumors. Joanna addressed these rumors in mid-September: "I don’t do great with seeing that kind of stuff, reading into it — I just don’t know what’s going on. So then I’ll hear someone come up to me and say, ‘I hear you and Chip are getting a divorce!’ And I’ll be like, ‘Where did you hear that?’ I don’t know any of this! We do our due diligence in letting people know as much as we can, 'This isn’t us. Don’t be scammed.'"
