Dancing with the Stars pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy, 37, and Peta Murgatroyd, 31, are making waves with their adorable family plans. The couple, who already have an eight-month-old baby boy named Shai Aleksander Chmerkovskiy, are ready to expand their family. In a recent interview with In Touch, they revealed their exciting plans to welcome another child into their lives. It seems like little Shai might be getting a sibling sooner than you’d think!

Maks and Peta are keeping busy these days. They’ve got their hands full with baby Shai and competing on Season 25 of Dancing with the Stars, but that hasn’t stopped them from thinking about adding to their family. When asked about the possibility of another child, Peta shared with In Touch, “Maybe next year [we’ll have another].” She revealed this during an event at Planet Hollywood in NYC on Sept. 6. The couple is clearly ready to take on whatever comes next, and it seems like another baby could be in the works sooner than later.
Lessons Learned from Pregnancy on the Dance Floor
Peta knows firsthand how challenging it can be to juggle pregnancy and dancing. She was pregnant with Shai when she won Season 22 of Dancing with the Stars with Nyle DiMarco. “That was pretty tough, actually,” she admitted. Peta decided to take a break during Season 23 to focus on her growing family, and it’s likely she’d do the same if they decide to expand their brood again. With another baby on the way, it’s possible Peta might sit out Season 26 in 2018 to focus on her health and her new addition.
Maks: Ready and Willing for More
So, how does Maks feel about potentially adding another child to their family? “I’m down for whatever,” he said. “Anything Peta wants, I’m down for it.” Maks is clearly a supportive partner, and he’s been loving every moment of watching Shai grow up. “First it was the smile and the giggle. Then it was the crawl,” he shared. “Now Shai is climbing and standing by himself. It’s exciting to see all of this and experience it with him. I don’t want to blink.” His excitement and dedication to being a present father make it clear why Peta would want to grow their family with him.
