Dolly Parton Shares Her Life Lessons And Heartfelt Wisdom

Dolly Parton Reveals What She's Learned About Life at Age 71

When it comes to wisdom, there’s no one quite like Dolly Parton. The legendary Queen of Country recently opened up about the lessons she’s learned during her incredible 71 years of life. And let me tell you, we’re all ears. In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, Dolly revealed that despite her massive success, she still gets starstruck at major Hollywood events. Can you believe it? Here's a woman who's seen it all, yet she remains as down-to-earth as ever.

Still Starstruck After All These Years

“The parties and seeing all the stars — I still get a kick out of it,” Dolly confessed to Closer Weekly at the Variety Television Nominees Celebration during Emmys weekend. Imagine that! This is a woman who’s rubbed elbows with some of the biggest names in entertainment, yet she still gets that same thrill she had as a young country girl dreaming about Hollywood. “I used to think about Hollywood when I’d see it on TV,” she recalled with a smile. “Now I get to be part of it. It’s such a blast.”

After decades in the spotlight as both a movie star and a successful singer, you might think Dolly would be immune to the excitement of fame. But nope! She’s still learning and has plenty of advice for her younger self. “Wear more wigs! And makeup! More rhinestones!” she joked. “And keep going. Write more songs. Do more movies!” It’s this kind of enthusiasm and passion that keeps her timeless and relevant.

But Dolly knows she can’t take all the credit for her wisdom. Much of it, she says, comes from her mom. “My mother always used to say, ‘To thine own self be true,’” Dolly shared. “That’s some of the best advice I’ve ever received. I try to remember who I am, who my mama was, and what I was taught. I aim to stay true to my own nature, my personality, and my talent.”

    Passing the Torch

And she’s not just keeping her wisdom to herself. Dolly is passing her lessons down to the next generation. Take Alyvia Alyn Lind, for example. The 10-year-old actress, who’s played young Dolly in the TV movies Coat of Many Colors and Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, told Closer Weekly what the country-music legend has taught her. “I’ve learned to always follow your dreams and that money is way less important than love,” Alyvia said. “Love can get you anything, not money.” How’s that for a life lesson?
