Giuliana Rancic Opens Up About Her Breast Cancer Journey And Advocacy

Giuliana Rancic Reflects on Meaningful 2018 Golden Globes Ceremony

In October 2011, Giuliana Rancic shared her life-changing news: she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Fast forward to today, and while she's thankfully in remission, she remains a passionate advocate for finding a cure. In a candid interview with Closer Weekly, the E! star opened up about her recent experience co-hosting the Pink Agenda Gala alongside her husband, Bill Rancic, earlier this month in New York City.

Here's what Giuliana had to say: “At the end of the day, what brings us the most joy is giving back. We started this initiative about five years ago, around the time I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Two years ago, I teamed up with the Pink Agenda, and together, we've raised a significant amount of money. We grant wishes to deserving women who have battled breast cancer and also fund research. Recently, I joined forces with the NFL to help fans bring the excitement of tailgating into their homes with the NFL Homegating collection."

Giuliana reflected on the Pink Agenda Gala, saying, "We had a record-breaking night. Bill led the live auction, and he was absolutely incredible. His passion for the cause is unmatched, and we were able to raise an extraordinary amount of money for women and breast cancer research. There's nothing more fulfilling than knowing we're making a difference. Hopefully, we can find a cure sooner rather than later."

How You Can Support Loved Ones Battling Breast Cancer

Giuliana also shared her advice for those who have loved ones battling breast cancer. She emphasized the importance of taking action without waiting for permission. "Don't ask, just tell," she explained. "Instead of asking, 'Do you want me to drive you to treatment?' or 'Do you want me to drop off dinner?' Just do it. Say, 'I’m picking you up tomorrow for your treatment,' or 'I’m dropping off dinner tonight, even if you’re not home, I’ll leave it on your doorstep.' Or bring magazines—don’t ask, just bring them so they have something to read during treatment. These small gestures can make a huge difference."

Giuliana's Personal Mantra: "This Too Shall Pass"

As the founder of Giuliana Prosecco, Giuliana shared how she got through her own experience with breast cancer. "It was tough," she admitted. "There were days when I thought, 'How am I going to get through this?' But I reminded myself that 'this too shall pass.' I would close my eyes, take a deep breath, and say those words. And you know what? It works. Whatever you're going through, it will pass. Many women have told me that this mantra has brought them comfort, whether they're at an appointment or undergoing treatment."
