Let me tell you something truly heartwarming. Just a few months after Jimmy Kimmel's son Billy was born with heart disease, the proud father has given fans an update on his little boy's health. The TV host shared a new photo of his "happy and healthy" little boy via Instagram on Saturday, Oct. 21, showing just how far Billy has come in such a short time.
You know, it’s not every day that we get to see the kind of resilience and strength that little Billy has shown. Jimmy wrote on Instagram, "Young Billy is six months old today. He is healthy and happy, and we are all very grateful for your prayers, good wishes, thoughts, and support of @ChildrensLA and children’s hospitals in your area." This update comes just one month after Billy made his first public appearance following his open-heart surgery. It’s amazing to see how far Billy has come and how much he’s thriving.

Let me take you back a few months. Three months ago, Jimmy gave a similar update on Billy's progress, and it’s clear that this little guy is doing better than ever. "Billy is three months old and doing great," the 49-year-old star wrote on Instagram alongside a sweet new photo of his little boy smiling at the camera. "Thanks for the love and support. Please remind your Congresspeople that every kid deserves the care he got." It’s a powerful reminder of the importance of accessible healthcare for all children.
Billy's Journey: From Heart Surgery to Thriving
Back in May, Jimmy shared the emotional details of Billy’s birth and health challenges during a heartfelt 13-minute monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. He opened up about the moment that changed everything. "A little over a week ago, on Friday, April 21st, my wife, Molly, gave birth to a baby boy. His name is William John Kimmel," Jimmy explained, holding back tears. "We call him Billy. He was an easy delivery — only six pushes out. He appeared to be a normal, healthy baby until about three hours after he was born."
Jimmy went on to describe the intense surgery that saved Billy’s life. "On Monday morning, Dr. Vaughn Starnes opened his chest and fixed one of the two defects in his heart. He went in there with a scalpel and did some kind of magic that I couldn’t even begin to explain," Jimmy continued. "He opened the valve, and the operation was a success. It was the longest three hours of my life." Thankfully, Billy pulled through and is now thriving, even managing to do something every new parent dreads: "He peed on his mother today while she was changing his diaper. He’s doing all the things that he’s supposed to do." That’s resilience right there.
Family Life for Jimmy and Molly
Jimmy and his wife, Molly McNeary, announced they were expecting their second child together back in December 2016. The couple, who got married in July 2013, are already parents to a three-year-old daughter, Jane Kimmel. Jimmy is also a father to two older children — daughter Katie Kimmel, 26, and son Kevin Kimmel, 24 — from his first marriage to Gina Kimmel. It’s clear that Billy has brought immense joy to the family, and we can’t wait to see more pictures of this little miracle in the near future!
