Wow, talk about tough as nails! Lindsey Stirling found herself in the hospital on Sunday, Oct. 29, after enduring a pretty gnarly rib injury during rehearsals for Dancing With the Stars just the week before. But here’s the kicker—this chick didn’t let a little thing like pain stop her. Even though she was hurting, she showed up and performed on the Monday, Oct. 30 Halloween episode. That’s what I call dedication.
Just days after her gutsy performances with her pro partner Mark Ballas, Lindsey opened up to her fans about how she was holding up. “Listen, I want to thank each and every one of you for your prayers. Honestly, I have no idea how I made it through that dance. It truly felt like a miracle. Not only was I physically in a ton of pain, but the hardest part was that my spirit felt broken,” she revealed. “The thought of having to forfeit or the idea that this injury could impact my tour was absolutely devastating. For a while, I lost faith in myself. I didn’t believe I could pull it off.”

She went on to explain, “I leaned on some incredible help from the doctors (@humangaragela), got a blessing from a church leader, prayed like crazy, and visualized what I couldn’t physically practice. Honestly, I had to convince myself—I had to fake it until I made it. Sometimes that’s what you gotta do.” And guess what? It looks like Lindsey and Mark are back at it tonight on DWTS! “This week, I’m being extra cautious with my body. I’m feeling stronger every day. I’ve reminded myself why I do what I do, and that fire is burning bright again. I truly believe I can do this now, and it’s real. Thank you so much for all your support. You guys believe in me even when I don’t believe in myself. Please keep me in your prayers,” Lindsey concluded.
Mark Ballas Opens Up About Lindsey’s Injury
Mark also chimed in last week, giving fans an update on Lindsey’s condition. “Alright, let’s be honest here—she’s in some serious pain,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “Thankfully, the X-ray didn’t show any fractures or breaks. But there are definitely some muscle issues going on, and she needs to rest, ice it, and take care of herself.”
“If we need to ease off a bit this week, we will. But the fact that she got out there last night was nothing short of impressive,” Mark continued. “All day, she kept saying, ‘I don’t want to let the fans down, I don’t want to let the team down. I want to go out there and give it my all.’ I was blown away—dancing with a back injury? That’s no joke.”

Mark, 31, was right there with Lindsey, 31, when they rushed to a local hospital after she got hurt practicing a fast-paced dance move back in late October. In the pre-dance segment before their performance last week, Lindsey was visibly emotional, asking Mark what would happen if she couldn’t perform on the Halloween DWTS episode.
“This is not the ideal day for this to happen, but let’s be real—it’s never a good time for an injury. It’s Sunday, the day before we perform… so yeah, it’s nerve-wracking,” Mark admitted. Lindsey added, “I always push myself to the limit—that’s how I’ve gotten where I am. But now I’m scared I might’ve pushed too hard.”
“What happens if they tell me I can’t go out there tomorrow?” Lindsey asked, to which Mark replied, “You’ll be forced to forfeit. That’s it.” According to the show’s rules, a celebrity contestant must perform every week to stay in the running for the Mirror Ball Trophy. However, pro dancers can sit out an episode due to injury or other reasons, and they’ll be replaced by backup pros or troupe dancers.
High-Energy Performance, High Praise
Despite the challenges, Lindsey and Mark delivered an electrifying performance last week, earning high praise from the judges for their pasadoble. The couple scored three 9’s from Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli, falling just three points short of their perfect score from the week before. “Listen, it’s all about mindset. Unless you’re so done that there’s no coming back, which, trust me, I’ve been there. But the amazing thing about this show is the fans—they keep us going,” Mark shared. “Lindsey wanted to perform for them, and it meant so much to her. She’s working so hard, and she’s got a real shot at this. I just want to make sure she’s taking care of her body.”
Final Push for the Mirror Ball Trophy
With only a few weeks left before the Mirror Ball Trophy is awarded, Mark and Lindsey are clearly going all in. “We’re constantly trying to be creative, pushing boundaries. Lindsey and I have so much fun together. Our chemistry is off the charts in rehearsals—we laugh a lot. Now, it’s all about making sure she stays healthy and keeps pushing the limits to entertain the fans,” he said. We’re so proud of Lindsey for showing such resilience, and we can’t wait to see what this dynamic duo brings to the table tonight!
After their high-energy performance last week, the judges (yet again) praised the two for their successful pasadoble. The couple then received 9’s across the board from Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli, which was three points off from their perfect score the week prior.
