As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved series I Dream of Jeannie, fans are getting a rare treat. Actress Barbara Eden, now 85, has opened up about some never-before-heard stories from the iconic show’s production in an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly. It's like pulling back the curtain on a magical world that has captured our hearts for decades.
Barbara recalls how it wasn’t always smooth sailing when she first started working with Larry Hagman. “Larry said I scared him to death at our very first rehearsal!” she laughed. “I threw my arms around his neck and said, ‘Oh, Master!’ and he was like, ‘What is this woman doing?’” It’s these little moments that remind us how even the most iconic TV partnerships had to find their rhythm.
And let’s not forget the stunts! In one memorable scene, Barbara had to jump onto a sofa where Larry was sitting. “We rehearsed it, and it worked beautifully,” she explained. But when the cameras rolled, things took a turn. “I landed on Larry’s knee and cracked a tooth! Oh, it was awful! Blood everywhere… We didn’t do anything like that again,” she added. It’s moments like these that make you appreciate the dedication these actors had to their craft.

Despite the occasional mishap, Barbara and Larry Hagman formed an incredible bond over their years working together. “We were always on the same wavelength when it came to truth, honesty, and acting,” Barbara told Closer Weekly. Their chemistry was undeniable, and it’s what made the show so special to viewers.
But not everything went according to plan. Both Barbara and Larry were unhappy about the network’s decision to have their characters tie the knot in a 1969 episode. “It killed the show,” Barbara revealed. Sometimes creative differences can have a big impact, and this was one of those moments.
