Mark Tritton, Target’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, explained in a press release that while the company's current brands have been performing well, they recognized an opportunity to create something even more unique and exciting. "Our brands have been solid performers," he said. "Take Cherokee and Circo in our kids’ business, for example — they were performing strongly, even in a difficult market." But after listening to customer feedback and analyzing data, Target realized that there was a chance to create a more distinct shopping experience.

As Tritton put it, "We talked to our guests, looked at the data, and we realized that there was this huge opportunity to create a unique personality and own-able, differentiated point of view." This is exactly what Target is aiming for with their new product lines.

However, there's no official word yet on when Merona and Mossimo—designed by none other than actress Lori Loughlin’s husband, Mossimo Giannulli—will be removed from stores. But rest assured, these changes are coming soon!

Tritton further explained the reasoning behind the changes: "Our new brands are all about the changing face of our guests—what they need, what they’re looking for from Target. When we took a close look at our existing assortment with this in mind, we saw a disconnect." It was clear that Target needed to refresh their offerings to stay relevant and keep customers coming back.

“We knew we’d need to refresh our offerings—and define new ones—so our guests continue to love what they’re discovering at Target and want to keep coming back, again and again,” Tritton added. So, what can you expect from the new lineup? Target is introducing several exciting new brands, including the women’s clothing line A New Day, the athleisure line JoyLab, the men’s clothing line Goodfellow & Co, and the home decor line Project 62.
