It’s been almost three decades since the iconic film Dirty Dancing graced the big screen, and Jennifer Grey is spilling some heartfelt memories about working alongside her late co-star, Patrick Swayze. You know, the guy who made "She's Having a Baby" a classic too.
At 57 years old, Jennifer opened up exclusively to Closer Weekly during a recent event in Beverly Hills, California. She reminisced, "I truly had the time of my life on that set. Patrick brought everything he had to the table, heart and soul." Can you imagine what it must have felt like to be part of something so iconic?

In the film, Jennifer played Baby, a sheltered teenager, while Patrick was Johnny, the worldly dance instructor. Interestingly, their on-screen chemistry wasn’t just acting. Jennifer shared, "Patrick was an incredible dancer and absolutely fearless. Meanwhile, I was the exact opposite." It’s heartbreaking to remember that Patrick passed away in 2009 at the age of 57 after battling pancreatic cancer.

Even though they were different in real life, Jennifer explained how their contrasting personalities worked perfectly on screen. "Patrick’s fearlessness paired with my fearfulness—it was like a perfect marriage of opposites," she said. "He would do anything, and I would be scared to do anything. But he was incredibly strong and very protective of me." It’s a partnership that truly stood the test of time.

Jennifer also dished about her experience in a 2015 interview, revealing that the legendary lift with Patrick was barely rehearsed. "I only did it on the day we shot it," she confessed. "We never rehearsed it, and I haven’t done it since. Honestly, I don’t know how people have the guts to reenact that move with anyone other than Patrick Swayze. It’s insane!"
When asked if she’d ever attempt the lift again, Jennifer joked, "It happened, it was magical, and now you can watch it over and over again. But don’t ask me to do it again because I’m too old. I’ve got a family, and I want to stick around for a while!" Classic Jennifer Grey humor right there.
