There’s something truly heartwarming about the latest revelation from Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Cambridge shared a delightful detail about her spirited daughter, Princess Charlotte—she absolutely adores dancing! Can you picture the two-year-old twirling around in her little princess dresses? It seems like the young royal has inherited a passion for the arts, much like her late grandmother, Princess Diana.
Visiting the Princess Diana Memorial Garden
On August 30, Kate joined her husband, Prince William, and brother-in-law, Prince Harry, for a poignant visit to the Princess Diana memorial garden at Kensington Palace. The trio spent time exploring the White Garden, a serene space dedicated to the memory of the "People’s Princess." During the visit, Kate had the opportunity to meet Tamara Rojo, the director of the English National Ballet. It was during this encounter that the proud mom shared her little one’s newfound love for dance.
A Legacy of Dance
As Tamara discussed Diana's deep love for the arts, it became clear that Princess Charlotte might be following in her grandmother’s graceful footsteps. Kate proudly mentioned that their youngest royal was already taking dance lessons. She couldn’t help but gush, “She absolutely loves it!” The connection between generations feels almost magical, doesn’t it?

Charlotte’s father, Prince William, also chimed in, reminiscing about his mom’s “fantastic dancing.” Speaking to Tamara, he said, “She loved dancing, she was a fantastic dancer. We’ve been going through her music collection recently, and there’s some really eclectic stuff in there. She was genuinely thrilled by the skill.” During their conversation, William even joked that he’d “definitely have to come” to one of their performances someday.
A Day of Remembrance
During this deeply moving event, the royal trio met with representatives from several charities that were close to Princess Diana’s heart, including Great Ormond Street Hospital, the National Aids Trust, The Leprosy Mission, Royal Marsden Hospital, and Centrepoint. Together, Kate, William, and Harry reflected on the incredible impact Diana had during her all-too-brief 36 years of life. Her legacy continues to inspire countless lives around the world.
Even though Princess Diana is no longer with us, her memory remains a cherished part of her grandchildren’s lives. In the documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, William spoke about keeping “Granny Diana’s” memory alive. “So we’ve got more photos up around the house now of her, and we talk about her a bit,” he mused. It’s important for George and Charlotte to know both grandmothers in their lives—one who is present and one who exists through stories and memories.

William shared that it’s challenging because Catherine didn’t know Diana, so she can’t provide the same level of detail about her. He explained, “So I — I do regularly put George or Charlotte to bed, talk about her, and just try and remind them that there are two grandmothers, there were two grandmothers in their lives, and so it’s important that they — they know who she was and that she existed.”
Diana’s eldest son also joked that his mother would have been a bit of a handful as a grandmother. “She’d be a nightmare grandmother, absolute nightmare,” the Duke chuckled. “She’d love the children to bits, but she’d be an absolute nightmare. She’d come and go and she’d come in probably at bath time, cause an amazing amount of scene, bubbles everywhere, bathwater all over the place, and — and then leave.”
