However, sources suggest that Megyn might not be entirely pleased with how the Oscar-winning actress portrays her on the big screen. According to a source close to the production, Charlize Theron isn’t one to shy away from the truth. Speaking to In Touch Weekly, the insider revealed that the South African actress plans to give an honest and unfiltered performance of Megyn Kelly. The two women have already been in touch so that Charlize, now 42, can better understand Megyn’s personality. “She’ll play Megyn as the tough-as-nails ice queen that she is,” the source explained.

Getting Real About the Role
Megyn, who is now 47, is understandably excited about the casting. But sources suggest she might want to temper her enthusiasm. “Megyn is in for a huge wake-up call,” the insider warned. “She’s not going to be very happy when the movie comes out!” It seems that while Megyn can’t stop talking about the casting, the reality of how she’ll be portrayed might not align with her expectations.
The Story Behind the Film
Back in late May, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the film will center around Megyn’s role in the 2016 sexual misconduct allegations against Roger Ailes, the former Chairman and CEO of Fox News. Charlize will play Megyn, a former lawyer who became a Fox News anchor for over a decade, rising from legal contributor to the host of the popular series The Kelly File. According to the report, Fox News reportedly tried to pressure Megyn to support Ailes, but she refused.
Roger Ailes, who also launched the careers of other notable Fox anchors like Sean Hannity and Gretchen Carlson, found himself at the center of a scandal in 2016. Both Megyn and Gretchen were among the many women who came forward with allegations against him. In her memoir Settle for More, Megyn detailed several uncomfortable encounters with Ailes, including instances where he allegedly tried to force himself on her. When she rejected his advances, he reportedly asked her, “When is your contract up?” Eventually, Ailes was forced to leave the network and passed away in May 2017, never facing the allegations in court. As of now, it's unclear who will play the other key roles in the yet-to-be-titled film.
