Between the couple's packed workload and the logistics of delivering a baby, she was juggling a lot. "She was excited about finally holding her baby boy, but at the same time, incredibly nervous," a source revealed. The baby had been quite active, and Joanna thought he might arrive early. "It would be a nightmare to be home alone with the kids if she went into labor unexpectedly," the source added. Sounds stressful, right?

But let’s not forget, Chip was out running their many businesses in Waco, TX, while Joanna was nearing her due date. "Chip is often out and about," the source explained. "Joanna was worried that he wouldn’t be around if she went into labor early." Joanna had to think about how she’d get herself to the hospital and arrange childcare for her four kids. On top of that, she was concerned about how her brood would react when they met their new brother. Even though the kids were excitedly touching her bump during pregnancy, she feared jealousy might creep in once the baby arrived.
Handling the Chaos with Grace
Juggling four older kids and a newborn is no small feat for any mom. Joanna, who admits she needed a refresher on diaper changing, knows this all too well. "She’s hands-on," the source said, "and obviously realizes how much hard work goes into raising kids." Still, she’s counting on her brood to step up. "We’re all rallying around this baby," Joanna shared. Chip has a special role in all this—swaddling. "Chip is the best swaddler," Joanna gushed. "He’s always been able to rock our babies to sleep. He’s like, 'I’m going to be holding the baby the entire time!'"

And if everything goes smoothly, there might just be another sibling in the Gaines household sooner than you think. "I’m open to whatever," Joanna said about the possibility of baby No. 6.
