Alright, listen up, Grey's Anatomy fans—this is big! In a recent chat with Entertainment Tonight, Kevin McKidd, the guy who plays Owen Hunt, spilled the tea about wanting Sandra Oh, a.k.a. Cristina Yang, to make a comeback on the long-running medical drama. And guess what? Sandra might just be open to it! “I really hope she does,” Kevin said with excitement. “It’d be such a blast. Bringing her back would stir things up in the best way possible. Owen’s story has grown so much, but adding Cristina back into the mix would take it to another level. She’s an incredible actress, and honestly, I miss her like crazy.”
Kevin went on to share how he broached the subject with Sandra herself. “She just gave me this playful ‘maybe’ response,” he revealed. “And let me tell you, even though I was part of that world, Cristina and Owen were always my favorite couple on the show. They were intense, passionate, and had this complicated love story that hooked us all. Their journey was full of highs and lows, and it was unforgettable.” The actor also mentioned that he and Sandra keep in touch regularly. “She actually asks me about what Owen’s been up to lately,” Kevin joked. “When Owen tied the knot with Amelia Shepherd, Sandra acted all jealous, saying, ‘No way, that’s not right! That’s not cool!’ It’s hilarious how invested she still is in the characters.”
Memories of Cristina Yang
While there’s no official word yet on Sandra returning to the series, fans got a little treat during the Season 14 premiere. Remember that? In one touching moment, Meredith Grey, played by Ellen Pompeo, was seen reading a medical article written by none other than Cristina Yang. The camera even zoomed in on a headshot of Cristina in her signature scrubs. It was a small nod, but it meant a lot to the fans who’ve been longing for her return.

Cristina’s Farewell Storyline
Let’s take a trip down memory lane for a moment. Cristina bid adieu at the end of Season 10, back in May 2014. Sandra Oh explained her departure this way: “It wasn’t an easy decision, but I felt like we’d explored every possible angle with the character. There wasn’t much more to give.” And while fans were heartbroken to see her go, the writers sent her off in style. In her final episode, Cristina visited her ex-fiancé, Preston Burke, at a hospital in Zurich, Switzerland. Preston, played by Isaiah Washington, offered her a position as the head of the hospital, allowing him to focus more on his family. After returning to Grey Sloan Memorial, Cristina made Maggie Pierce her successor in cardiology and handed over her shares of the hospital to Alex Karev. With that, she said her emotional goodbyes to Meredith and set off for new adventures abroad.
A Look Back at Sandra’s Legacy

Though Sandra initially seemed firm about not revisiting Cristina’s character, her recent comments suggest she might be reconsidering. “Back then, I didn’t think it would happen,” she admitted in a previous interview. “But who knows? Maybe there’s room for a comeback.” Sandra has always cherished her time on Grey’s Anatomy. “It was such a fulfilling experience as an actor and artist. Looking back, it was such a pivotal chapter in my life. I’m grateful that a whole new generation of fans is discovering the show, and it means the world to me.”
