Time flies when you're watching your kids grow up, right? Dancing With the Stars pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd welcomed their first child, Shai, back in January. Now, their little bundle of joy is already taking his first steps and getting into all sorts of mischief. Peta recently shared a delightful video of Shai walking for the first time. The sweet moment turns into a mini-tantrum when he realizes his favorite spot in the house has been child-proofed by mom. Let's take a look at this adorable milestone in the video below!
Shai's Determination: A Future Dancer in the Making
At just nine months old, Shai is already showing some serious determination. While he may not be as steady on his feet as his famous parents, it's clear that practice makes perfect. After all, if he wants to follow in the footsteps of mom and dad, he's got some big shoes to fill—or maybe tiny tap shoes? Peta and Maks are currently competing against each other on Season 25 of Dancing With the Stars. They're even going head-to-head with another husband-and-wife duo, Nick and Vanessa Lachey. While things have been smooth sailing for Nick and Peta, Maks and Vanessa have had their share of ups and downs.
Remember last week when Maks refused to perform with his partner due to "personal issues"? Well, it looks like they've worked things out. Maks and Vanessa are back on track and ready to hit the dance floor this week. And guess who's cheering them on from home? That's right—baby Shai! Last month, Peta revealed that Shai is getting smarter every day and can now recognize his parents on TV. How cool is that?

Shai Recognizes Mommy on TV!
Peta shared a sweet moment with Entertainment Tonight, explaining how Shai is starting to recognize her on TV. "While we danced last week, my nanny actually said that [Shai] recognized me on TV," she revealed. It's a far cry from last season when Shai didn't even recognize her because of all the makeup and hair. "He was like, 'Who are you?'" she joked. It's amazing how much kids grow and change in such a short amount of time.
