Behind the Scenes: Connie Britton Opens Up About Her Tough Decision
In a candid interview with TV Line, Connie revealed the complexities behind her choice to leave Nashville. “It’s been something I’ve been thinking about for a while now, and there were many factors at play. The timing had to be just right for me. Nashville has always been my priority, and when the show transitioned from ABC to CMT, I felt confident that it was in great hands with showrunners Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick. You know, the fans’ passion for the show became evident over the summer. We wouldn’t even be on the air if it weren’t for them,” Connie shared.
She continued, “We’re all incredibly grateful for the fans’ support. They love every single character on the show, and now the series is in a place where all the characters can flourish and shine. I truly believe Nashville can continue for years to come.”

Saying Goodbye: The Emotional Farewell
“Saying goodbye was incredibly difficult. Every time I worked with Chip Esten, who plays Deacon Claybourne, we’d just look at each other with these sad, puppy-dog eyes. And I’d have to say, ‘I’m really sorry, babe.’ It was tough! Especially those final episodes. That last episode was heart-wrenching. There was no easy way to make it any less painful for anyone involved,” she admitted.
