Hey there, friends! Gather 'round because I've got some pretty exciting news to share with you. You know that show Last Man Standing starring the one and only Tim Allen? Well, it might just be making a big comeback. Just a month after the beloved ABC sitcom was canceled after six successful seasons, rumors are swirling that Tim is in the early stages of talks to bring the series over to CMT. That's right, folks, this could be a real thing!
Now, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let's not forget that, according to Deadline, while a deal is certainly possible, it’s still considered a bit of a long shot. If Last Man Standing does indeed find a new home on CMT, it’s likely the cast would have to take a pay cut. But hey, that's just part of the deal when shows make a network switch, right?

Here's the kicker: if the deal comes to fruition, this wouldn't even be the first time CMT has pulled off such a move. Back in May 2016, ABC canceled the fan-favorite series Nashville, but CMT was quick to step in and pick it up just a month later. And guess what? They're already airing Last Man Standing in syndication. So, you’ve got to admit, the odds are looking pretty good for Tim and his gang.

Now, let me take you back to the moment when the news of Last Man Standing’s cancellation first broke on May 12. Tim Allen wasn’t exactly thrilled with ABC’s decision to nix his show after six years. He took to Twitter to express his shock and disappointment, writing, “Stunned and blindsided by the network I called home for the last six years. #LastManStanding.” You can imagine how the fans felt—heartbroken, right?
According to Entertainment Weekly, ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey addressed the network’s decision during a conference call with reporters in early May. She explained, “A large part of these jobs is managing failure, and we’ve made the tough calls and canceled shows that we’d otherwise love to keep on the air. That’s the job.”

Dungey further elaborated, “I canceled Last Man Standing for the same business and scheduling reasons that I canceled Dr. Ken, The Real O’Neals, The Catch, and American Crime.” She admitted that Last Man Standing was a tough decision for her because it was a steady performer in the ratings, but once the decision was made to move away from comedies on Fridays, that's where they landed.

For those who may not know, Last Man Standing first premiered on ABC back in October 2011. The 30-minute comedy centered around Mike Baxter, played by Tim Allen, who was a senior executive and director of marketing for a Denver outdoor sporting goods store chain. The show revolved around Mike and his family, bringing laughter and heartwarming moments into our homes week after week.
Last Man Standing also featured Nancy Travis as Mike’s wife, Vanessa Baxter, Amanda Fuller as eldest daughter Kristin Baxter, Molly Ephraim as middle daughter Mandy Baxter, and Kaitlyn Dever as youngest daughter Eve Baxter. The cast was filled with talent and charm, making the show a must-watch for many.
