Neil Diamond Eyes Possible Return to the Stage

Even though he officially retired from performing back in January, Neil Diamond didn’t look like a man ready to hang up his guitar entirely at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala in New York City. The legendary singer, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame way back in 1984, told Closer magazine, “I think I want to go out and do some shows. I’m a bit bored." It seems like Neil’s love for the stage hasn’t faded, even if his official retirement announcement made headlines earlier this year.

Though he stepped away from touring after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Neil, now 77 years old, seemed right at home on the stage during the June 14 ceremony. He delivered a powerful performance of his timeless hit, “Sweet Caroline.” An insider close to Neil shared that while the singer is focusing on living a healthy lifestyle—he’s been doing acupuncture—he does have some new music coming soon. “We’ll see how people like it,” Neil teased. It’s clear that this icon isn’t ready to slow down just yet!

Staying Strong: Neil’s Journey with Parkinson’s

It’s truly inspiring to see Neil not letting anything slow him down, even his health challenges. “He’s doing yoga and meditating to stay centered, and he has a live-in chef who ensures he eats healthy,” his friend shared. This holistic approach to his well-being has helped Neil stay active and creative. Fans can look forward to more music from the legend, as his friend noted, “Neil has numerous recorded songs that have never been released.” That’s music to our ears!

After receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2018 Grammys, Neil is clearly embracing this next chapter in his life.
