Let's talk about Prince Louis! The little royal is growing up faster than we can blink, and today, Monday, July 9, marks his christening. Fans around the world are eager to know who's been chosen as his godparents. Surprisingly, his aunt and uncle, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, didn't make the list. But don't worry, there's a great reason behind it.
A Closer Look at the Godparents
Kensington Palace has already announced that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s close friends and family members have been selected for the honor. Specifically, the chosen godparents are Mr. Nicholas van Cutsem, Mr. Guy Pelly, Mr. Harry Aubrey-Fletcher, The Lady Laura Meade, Mrs. Robert Carter, and Miss Lucy Middleton. It's not uncommon in the royal family to have more than the traditional two godparents. For instance, Prince George, who's four years old, has seven godparents, and his sister, Princess Charlotte, aged three, has five. So, it seems like Louis is in good company with a robust group of godparents!

Who's Attending the Christening?
This afternoon, the christening ceremony will take place in The Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace in London. Kensington Palace has shared a guest list for the special event. Of course, William and Kate will be there, and we're pretty confident George and Charlotte will join them, though it hasn't been officially confirmed yet. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, will also be present, even though they're not the godparents. We can also expect to see Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, along with Kate’s parents, Michael and Carol Middleton. Pregnant Pippa Middleton and her husband, James Matthews, will likely make an appearance, and so will Kate's brother, James Middleton.

A Royal Absence
Interestingly, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are not on the guest list. A source confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that the couple won't be attending, but don't worry—it's not because of any health issues. The decision was mutually agreed upon some time ago, and the christening is intended to be a small, intimate service.
A Taste of Celebration
Who knows, maybe we'll get a last-minute invite to partake in a slice of Louis' special christening cake (a tier of William and Kate’s wedding cake) at the post-ceremony gathering at Clarence House today. Wouldn't that be exciting?
