Erinn Hayes Fires Back After Fans Boycott 'Kevin Can Wait'

Here's something you don’t see every day. Erinn Hayes, who was unfortunately let go from the hit CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait after its first season wrapped up in May, has been openly engaging with fans on Twitter. These aren’t just any fans—these are the ones who’ve decided to boycott the show entirely after her departure. Now, that's a bold move. Erinn, it seems, is giving these fans a big thumbs up by liking their tweets, showing her appreciation for their unwavering support.

One fan penned a heartfelt message saying, “Love you… our book club quotes ‘gots to go’ all the time and think of you… we are all tuning out of Kevin Can Wait. Another fan chimed in, “Miss you on Kevin Can Wait. It’s not fair you’re no longer there.” You can feel the passion and connection these viewers have with Erinn, and it’s clear she feels the same way.

Why Fans Are Turning Their Backs

Now, it’s not just about missing Erinn Hayes. Many past viewers are expressing their dissatisfaction loud and clear. One fan wrote, “Guess who isn’t watching a certain show on TV anymore? And who wants to know the minute you get a better gig?” Another fan added, “Absolutely crap. Loved yours and Kevin’s interaction on the show. Won’t be watching any longer don’t like the King of Queens gal pal deal.” Erinn, it seems, can’t help but acknowledge these messages, giving them a big red heart. It’s clear that her connection with the fans runs deep.

Erinn Hayes, who turned 41 this year, confirmed on Twitter that her departure from Kevin Can Wait was indeed official. “True, I’ve been let go from the show. Very sad, I had a great experience [on] Season 1. Thank you for all the support from our wonderful fans,” she wrote. Now, the show’s executive producer has weighed in on why Donna Gable, her character, was suddenly written out of the series.

“The goal was to give [Kevin James’ character Kevin Gable] a real drive and a real predicament [involving] how a family comes back together [after his wife’s death]. Also, out of respect for the character of Donna — and certainly the way that Erinn Hayes portrayed her — it seemed like the only right and fair way to treat her character,” Rob Long told TV Line back in August.

    Leah Remini Enters the Fray

At the time of Erinn’s firing, CBS sources claimed the show was simply moving in a “new creative direction,” stressing that her exit was “not a reflection” of her performance. When questioned if adding Leah Remini to Kevin Can Wait was the network’s way of essentially rebooting King of Queens, Thom Sherman responded, “I don’t think so. The show speaks for itself and stands for itself. Obviously, the chemistry [between Kevin and Leah] was amazing in the [Kevin Can Wait Season 1] episodes.”
